Quotes, Tips, Motivation, Workouts, and More

What a great week and weekend this has been. I am pretty sure I ate more desserts yesterday for my wife’s birthday than I have in the last 6 months combined. But hey, after a week of solid eating it was totally worth it! Back to healthy eating this week and more great workouts to look forward to. This past week, I posted an article on reasons you should workout in the morning. If you haven’t read that yet, go check it out!

With that post comes a challenge this week: get at least 3 morning workouts in! I will be getting my workouts done in the morning again this week and challenge you to do the same! Be sure to let me know how it goes.

Quotes for the Week:

  • “I can be changed by what happens to me, but I refuse to be reduced by it.” -Maya Angelou

A simple yet powerful quote. Things that happen should shape who you become as a person but what happens should never reduce you as a person. Use every experience as a growing opportunity.

  • “Success happens when you stop talking and start doing.”

It is time to stop the talking and start the DOING! Far too many times you hear people talk about how they are going to get in shape, or how they are going to start eating healthy, or how they are going to workout more. Talk is cheap. You must take action in order to make what you say a reality.

  • “The strongest principle of growth lies in the human choice.” -George Eliot

We all have a choice: the choice to get healthy, to eat better, workout more, stress less, etc. Make the choice this week to get better in all areas of your life.

Workout for the Week:

A great workout for you to look forward to this week. I posted this on our Facebook page as well and I encourage you to give it a try:

Workout:

-50 Squat Jumps
-50 Push-Ups
-50 Bodyweight Squats
-50 Pull-Ups
Rest 2 minutes
-50 Overhead Press
-50 Lunges (25 each leg)
-50 Pull-Ups
-50 Kettlebell Swings
Rest 2 minutes
-50 Squat to Press
-50 Push-Ups
-50 Burpees

Complete all reps of one exercise before moving to the next exercise and rest only when needed. After completing all exercises that are grouped together, rest two minutes and move to the next circuit. This takes about 30 minutes to complete.

Motivation for the Week:

  • “Strength and growth come only through continuous effort and struggle.” -Napoleon Hill

I have used this quote before, but this is one I absolutely love. When you are trying to get fit, there will be struggle and there must be continuous effort in order to make it happen. In the end, if you persevere through these tough times, you will be stronger and more fit than ever!

I hope you are ready to dominate your morning workouts this week, I know I am.

Quotes, Tips, Motivation, Workouts, and More

This past week has been filled with some great workouts and a solid eating plan. Now that I feel my body is back from a short time off, this upcoming week is going to be another challenge. I have set the goal of working out in the morning everyday this week. I typically find myself working out in the afternoon the majority of the time, however after getting in a few morning workouts last week, I am starting to like them more and more.

I will keep you updated next week about how they go. Alright, on to what I have for you this week:

Quotes for the Week:

  • “There are plenty of difficult obstacles in your path. Don’t allow yourself to become one of them.” – Ralph Marston

Far too many times we come up with excuses about why we cannot achieve something. We blame family, friends, work, business, etc. But have you ever thought that YOU may be the one that is holding you back? Take this quote to heart and really take a look if you have become an obstacle in your own life. If you have, figure out how you can change that.

  • “How am I to know what I can achieve if I quit?” -Jason Bishop

I am always reminding myself that anything is possible when I put my mind to it. That said, if I quit something how would I ever know if I could have done that certain thing? Don’t allow yourself to quit anything if it is something you truly want. If you want to be healthy and stay healthy for life, don’t allow the word quit to even enter your vocabulary.

  • “I like thinking big. If you’re going to be thinking anything, you might as well think big.” – Donald Trump

We all have goals and dreams that we are going after and my question to you this week is ‘Why not make those goals and dreams BIG?’ As Mr. Trump states in this quote, if you are going to think of something why not think big? Don’t settle for average, push to be the best you can be!

Workout for the Week:

Here is a quick look at a circuit I will be partaking in this week:

Workout:

For the workout below you will perform Exercise 1 for 30 seconds followed by a 30 seconds rest. Then perform 30 seconds of Exercise 1 followed immediately with 30 seconds of Exercise 2 followed by a 30 second rest. You will then complete in this fashion until all exercises have been completed. (Your third round would be 30 seconds of exercises 1,2, and 3 back-to-back-to-back followed by a 30 second rest.)

Exercise 1: Bodyweight Squats
Exercise 2: Push-Ups
Exercise 3: Kettlebell Swings
Exercise 4: Lunges
Exercise 5: Burpees
Exercise 6: Pull-Ups
Exercise 7: Dips
Exercise 8: Box Leap Ups

Motivation for the Week:

  • “Be patient and tough; some day this pain will be useful to you” – Ovid

This is such a perfect quote for this week ahead. Far too many times we expect immediate results when what we really need to do is be patient, tough, and push through. Especially early on in your journey, you will experience set backs and pain. Just know that in time, these periods will only benefit and strengthen you. Stay strong this week!

Stay Tuned…

I have some great articles coming your way this week including my opinion on morning workouts and why I have decided to start doing more of them. Also, I have got a few exciting programs on the horizon that I cannot wait to share with you! I know, I know, contain your excitement… They will be in your hands soon!

Quotes, Tips, Motivation, Workouts, and More

After telling you last week that my workouts and eating had been a little bit off, I had lots of improvement this week by getting in some good workouts and eating pretty healthy. There is still room for improvement and that is why this week I am back full force. Being on vacation and not highly motivated, it was easy to just eat whatever was available (many times junk).

This week however, I am staying strong to my plan. I will be eating all clean healthy meals until Saturday where I will then enjoy a cheat day. Inspired by the picture below, I am going to be planning a big cheat day next Saturday so that is going to force me to stay strong to my meals this week. No slip ups and no excuses.

The Inspirational Cheat Day!

If you want to join me for this challenge, it starts today right when you read this article. Prepare your food ahead of time, and stay to eating all real food throughout the week.

Quotes for the Week:

  • “The consequences of today are determined by the actions of the past. To change your future, alter your decisions today.” – Anonymous

We can all sit and dwell on the past, but what good would that do? Start making the choice TODAY to get better and live a better life. The decisions you make right now will have a direct impact on your future. If you need to lose 25 pounds, that starts right now as you read this. No more waiting around or pondering what you could have done in the past. Live in the moment so you can have a better future.

  • “The harder I work, the luckier I get.” – Gary Player

So many times after people accomplish something great in their life, others around them start saying “how luck they are.” This quote right here sums it all up: if you go out and lose 25 pounds, did you get “lucky?” Did your metabolism just magically speed up for you to lose that weight? Of course not, you worked hard each and everyday to make that happen.

Start creating luck in your own life. The more lucky you get, the harder that means you are working!

  • “Your imagination is your preview of life’s coming attractions.” – Albert Einstein

I love this quote simply because it shows the power of your mind. You have got to be able to see your vision before it can actually take place. See where you want to be in 3, 6, and 12 months then work hard each day to make those visions come true.

Workout for the Week:

I shared this workout on our Facebook page this past week but liked it so much that it is going to be one of my workouts again this week. Take a look:

Workout of the Day:

Repeat as many rounds as possible in 12 minutes:
5 pull-ups
10 push-ups
Rest only when needed!

Once finished, rest for 3 minutes and complete the circuit below:

Repeat as many rounds as possible in 12 minutes:
10 burpees
20 kettlebell swings
Rest only when needed!

This workout takes a total of 27 minutes, so go hard the entire time!

Motivation for the Week:

  • “I challenge you to make your life a masterpiece. I challenge you to join the ranks of those people who live what they teach, who walk their talk.” – Tony Robbins

Each day is meant for you to make it a masterpiece. There comes a point in life when you have to stop the bad habits and make positive changes in your life. Why not make today that day?

Stay Tuned…

Lots to look forward to this week! It is going to be challenging, difficult, and will take lots of focus but it will all be worth it. Remember, if you need support shoot me an email, hit me up on Facebook, or Tweet me!

Working hard and smart this week,

-Dennis
